Run, Swim, Bike, Run

Monday: Ran 4 miles

Tuesday: Swam 1,000 (feet? yards? what?!) I did 5 LAPS (25'=1 length) x 3= 15 lengths, or 30 (10 laps x 3) x 25' = 750'. Plus 50' warm up and 50' cool down. So that = 850'. So I had to do another 150' to make it an even 1000'. Except that I can't do math, so someone please point out the horrific math error I am making.

I didn't crash into anyone. The sky was overcast, rain falling softly, pool mostly empty at 5:45 a.m.

Wednesday morn: Up early, rode bike to work while the sun rose. I had to keep stopping and looking at my directions since I'm taking back roads so that I don't get killed. Two other bikers opened the door for me at work, so I made my entrance to applause. That was nice. (The applause didn't last though.) I carried my work clothes all rolled up in a ball in my backpack. (It's the grunge look.) It only took me one week to ride my bike back to work. (You'll be happy to hear that I am taking the bus home tonight because it is too dark to ride, E.)

Wednesday night: First hill workout in months. One mile warm-up, 2x .25 mile hill, one mile cool-down. My iPod stopped right in the middle of the first hill. It's a cruel, cruel world.

So my week so far? I would sum up thusly:

I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR

Stay tuned for:
Thursday: Spinning class!
Friday: More swim!
Saturday: Long run!

I'd say 1000 yards. A 25' pool is just too ridiculously small to even claim to swim laps. Time how long it takes to swim 100 yards. If it is somewhere in the 2-3 minute ballpark, it is definitely yards.

Nicely done - before you know it you'll be in full tri swing. Plus, with a 'event' per day, it's only a matter of time before you're doubling them up. :)

Definitely yards. My backyard pool is 28 ft long and I'd get dizzy turning around before I ever got a decent workout.

Reading this post is like watching a triathlon chick hatch. Get it??! Oh how I crack myself up!

I agree with 21stcenturymom. I'm sure the pool is 25 yards. With your height you would be doing stroke-stroke-turn, stroke-stroke-turn. I don't believe a Y would build a 25 foot pool. A Ramada or Best Western, yes, a Y, no. So, you're doing great, girl!

If it's a Y pool it is 25 yards, YMCA of the USA standards. I know this because my wife works at the Y and I am on few different Y Boards and committees.

I am hearing you roar, what a rocking week. AWSOME!

I cycle to and from work, and actually find it saver to ride in the evening when it's dark. With my light and the reflective sash I'm wearing the drivers can see me better that way.

It might be different in that city of yours, of course.

I am UBER impressed with your workouts! I'm trying to love swimming, don't have a bike, and just started "running" this week -- in other words, I'm IMPRESSED! You're doing terrific.

On another note, how we can catch up soon. Swinging through town.
