Do You Ever Feel ...

... that no matter what you are doing at any particular time, you should be doing something else?

I am having trouble prioritizing, people.

It's Sunday, and there's a big fat ol' newspaper sitting on the coffee table, just begging me...

Then, I'm trying to finish up a little bit of freelance work that's due tomorrow.

Of course, there's always blogging ... but forget that, there's reading blogs, and that, my friends, is a full-time job. At which I am currently sucking.

Then, there's that phone call to the elderly 'rents that I have put off making for far too long. Not to mention phone calls to friends who have no doubt given up on my being alive. If they are still speaking to me.

E-mails to reply to. E-mails to generate.

Plus books to be read! More things to write! Training! And let's not forget actually working while I'm at work. And groceries to buy, cleaning, laundry!

I don't know how people do this. It's spinning outta control over here at whine-o-matic headquarters.

I decided this morning to see if I can go an entire week without reading non-work-related blogs while at work. (Not that I ever do that, mind you. Just sayin'...) I need to give up tv completely, which shouldn't be hard since I barely watch any as it is, so already I can't relate to any Sex in the City, or Desperate Housewives, or Idol, or Runway convos, though I do have a Colbert jones that needs feeding. (And Masterpiece Theater. But that's only on Sunday nights. Surely I get Sunday nights!)

Of course, I found time to write this brilliant post. But I should have been doing something else. Which is in fact, the story of my life.

Whoops, time to take my chill pill.

I know just what you mean. Here I am reading your blog, eating a bowl of cherries and grapes, while I have a pile of laundry waiting to fold, floors to mop, a bed to be made (forget that I'll be in bed soon enough anyways). I think you deserve one day a week where you can do what you want. Since you already reserved Sunday nights, why not just take the whole day?

you just described how i feel 95% of the time. do you do what I do, and spend half the time that should be spent doing things, just making lists of things that need to be done?! i find that helps...whether or not I check off all the things on the list, or not!

I know exactly the feeling you are describing. When it happens to me I generally take a nap and hope I feel better when I wake up. Then I force myself to do 1 thing on the list and viola! Off the hook.

I know what you mean...I always have such big plans at the start of each day and when it's all said and done, I may have accomplished two things on my list!

I'm with ya. Never enough time. But it's fun to try juggling everything, isn't it?

It can be pretty overwhelming trying to keep up with it all - so I know that you will understand if I fall behind on reading yours. :) Just kidding.

I'd say you just need to hunker down (that's a favorite hurricane weather term down in Florida) and just work feverishly without any interruptions to knock off as many to do list things as you can before calling it a day. I did that Friday at work until 9+pm and my weekend was far more enjoyable and my desk was clean this morning!

Oh, sounds like me and I even have the week off pretty much!

I should have been cleaning, and ogranizing things around the apartment today to get ready for the school year, but chose to grocery shop (productive) and read blogs. If I don't, I won't be able to find things when I need them for my students!

Good luck with prioritizing...wish me luck!

Your problem is my same problem. The usual question to myself is: what do I have to do for first? I would have a solution to solve this problem: the retirement. But when?

Can I cut and paste your post into my blog? I could have written the same thing and every word would be true.

At least know that you aren't alone!
