Tuesday: 2 miles (plus spinning in the a.m.!)
Wednesday: 3 miles (75F!!)
I'm halfway to my goal of running six times this week. (Don't believe me? Check my running log!)
What morals can we draw from this little half-completed exercise?
- If your feet ain't happy, you will hate running. (Mizunos!)
- When you set a short-term goal, running becomes non-negotiable. Today, I honestly could NOT fit a run in. There was no way. I had morning meetings, afternoon meetings, meetings to set up meetings, meetings to debrief after meetings, and after-work meetings. And ... I fit in a 3-mile run. At lunch.
- Of course that meant I missed lunch. Or, since I rarely take a real "lunch," I just missed eating anything at my desk. Or eating my desk. Poor Planning on my Part. Or, let's just blame work. During one of those meetings (may I use the word interminable here?), I honestly thought I would gnaw my arm off.
- So, I broke, fell off the no-sugar band wagon, and had a pop tart. OK, OK, I had two. I tell you, I was desperate.
- I forgot what #5 was.
- Oh yeah, weather. Beautiful, gorgeous spring. The kind of weather that makes running, well, dare I say? Easier.
- I don't want to jinx it, but I'm actually starting to like running. Two 1/2 years in! Is solid consistency the secret? Who knew? And if you did know, why didn't you tell us?!?!
Stay tuned. More important lessons comming your way.
Now, appropos of nothing in particular, except: I loved this actress, it's a fun song, and a peak into 40's slang:
Betty Hutton, RIP. They just don't make 'em like that anymore. I especially like the GI's dancing.

That video was great! The actress looked familiar, but I couldn't place her. Bob Hope sure was a youngster!
Pick up some snacks at Trader Joe's. I like the mini bags of almonds, or Lara Bars--you could certainly eat those at your desk, even if you skip lunch. So much healthier than your arm!
Nice job on the run. Good luck on getting rest done this week.
Welcome to the Mizuno family. I love mine!
Go Betty...love the vid. :)
YEAH you are running! Can I tie my shoelace to yours? :)
Excellent going, Jeanne. Congratulations on fitting in a run when it seemed impossible. You're becoming one of us now.
Not that I didn't believe you but I DIDcheck your running log...just in case. And someone else said it but get some quick food for your desk for emergency meals....Whole Foods carries high protein, low-sodium Jerky in one serving packets, there are protein bars of every persuasion, soy nuts...okay, about a million things better for your muscles and body after a workout than Poptarts but this you know. Consider providing healthy food options the next step in your road to being the lean, mean, running machine that you are morphing into!
that's you! a vitamin pill with legs!
my grandpa almost got kicked out of the university of wisconsin for drawing a couple "pitching woo in the prone position."
i say bring back the old slang. let's show our gams and pitch some woo!
and hey... some modern slang? meetings blow.
what a dame! Loved the video. Weird factoid: When I was a kid, I had a crush on Bob Hope. And Danny Kaye. I grew up watching all the "Road" movies from the 1940's. and the "Walter Mitty" movie was one of my favorites at the time.
You go, girl!!!! I want to love running, too.
And meetings are the devil's spawn. We used to have meetings about how to plan our meetings in my old school. Grrr.
WTG, girl!
You're not streaking again, are you?
Your streaking is EXTREMELY impressive, but we won't be able to take you to the cricket if you keep it up LOL
oh. my god. i love it. fantastic video!!!!
and WELL DONE running multiple days in a row.
jeanne. you're my hero.
Nice pace times you're getting up to on your runs. Ten plus minute miles, nothing wrong with that. That's an improvement over a year ago, n'est pas? Pretty cool, your Cool Running Log. But only 71 miles for the year? I don't think so! I saw ya' run four pretty fast miles in your current streak just last Saturday. You just wait, when you come back, those numbers'll drop to 9:59 per mile. You just watch, they will. (BTW, how is #1 D doing in Spain?)
Good job on the runs! Spring is here!!!
Happy St. Patricks Day! :)
