What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

(I am totally stealing this post from Andy Carvin's "Morning Edition" interview this morning.)

What are you doing New Year's Eve?

and

What do you wish you were doing New Year's Eve?

I'm doing nothing and I wish I were going to a big fancy party at a 4 star hotel where I had a room with a gorgeous hunk of a man. Oh well - maybe next year.

Since I'm dating someone who is opposed to planning, New Year's is still a long way off...but I wish I were going to a beach party in Barbados!

Hmm...planning is still in development. Could go with some of my running friends, could do nothing, could get stuck at an airport somewhere. So many possibilities.

I asked the spousal inoy and he said 'fly to Paris and see the new year in at the top of the eiffel tower' - that's what we wish we were doing!! It's so HOT here we'll probably spend the late afternoon in our rich friends' pool and then go to bed early cos we are such high steppers.

I am attending a low-key, probably-ending-way-before-midnight, party at the home of one of my supper club mates. It will be great!

What I WISH I was doing, though, was going out to buy a new wardrobe to celebrate my huge weight loss -- which didn't happen. HA!

I don't know what I'm doing but I'll tell you what I did. As the ball in Times Square dropped on 12/31/82, I was watching on TV and feverishly smoking a cigarette. As the ball approached touchdown, with two seconds to go, I ground out my last cigarette ever. Haven't had a toke of anything (except one cigar puff once) since. It helps to quit smoking for good to have an absolute moment when you had your last one that you can always remember so you can count backwards to it and be smug.

I am crazy so I'll probably go for a run at midnight.
None of us - boys or 'rents - have made any plans yet; and it;s 2:45 p.m.
Tomorrow is the bowl game: Florida v. Michigan. May look for some of that action over at the stadium tomorrow.

Hmmmm, well what I am doing is going over to SnL's for some boozy family socializing

I would rather be on vacation somewhere warm with the family and a few friends... sitting on a private beach at midnight...slight chill in the air with a small fire watching the waves roll in - that would be heaven

Peace and Love!
