I Hate Everyone*

I had yet another root canal today.

And yesterday? My friendly mechanic told me my car needed $2,300 in repairs. That's on top of the $2,300 I paid him LAST MONTH, when I said, as I handed over the dough, "Now before I invest this much, are you sure this car won't need any other GIANT repairs anytime soon? Because if it might, if there's even the SLIGHTEST chance, then maybe I should NOT have all this work done now."

It's just like talking to the dentist!

I think if I went into this garage for a flat tire, they'd charge me $2,300.

It's a blown gasket, whatever that means. I practically blew a gasket. So, what to do? Throw more money down the rabbit hole, cuz it's still cheaper than a car payment? I don't want more debt, I just paid off this car loan. I could buy a Vespa, my secret desire.

Although I'm pretty sure I'd be run over by a suburban Bethesda Mom in her Hummer, latte in one hand, cell phone in another, lipstick in the third.

And to top everything off, because of that stupid root canal, I missed the chance tonight to meet the Rich Hungarian Older Gentleman my girlfriend has been trying to set me up with for months!

Calling Tom and Ray.

*Except everyone reading this, of course.

Oh man that sucks. If you plowed $2300 into your car you should expect it to last a while. Now a blown gasket isn't necessarily something you could predict but here's the problem. If someone hit you broadside (when the car was parked and empty, of course) would your insurance give you $4600 for it? That's how you figure out what to do.

I'm sorry you are having tooth and car issues. No fair.

ps - the mechanic should give you a really good deal on fixing the car since he JUST made bank on you.

Sucks big time. Did you cry? I would cry. Then I would throw something.
You can whine and complain all you want next weekend, ok? And we'll have a glass of wine.

I'm just glad you weren't talking about suburban dads when you mentioned the third arm.

Yikes on the car and teeth woes. I knew you needed a laugh yesterday ;)

Eeek. Head gasket. Expensive. Usually that won't happen on fairly new vehicles, on the older ones it can be caused by not changing the radiator fluid. It becomes acidic and eats away at the gasket. When I had mine repaired it was only $700, but it was done by a heroine addict that screwed it up worse and stole all the change from my coin holder.

Jeanne, that sounds EXACTLY like MY car ('cept I am STILL paying my car loan and NO car to drive!) I want a Vespa too. It will have to until Spring. **sigh**

jon has a point. Your mechanic could have been a heroine addict. Or worse, your dentist could have been one. Count your blessings.

No, seriously, I'm so sorry you're having such a sucky day. You are hereby granted a free pass to all the chocolate, white bread, and wine you want for the rest of the day. (((hugs))) See wasn't that nice, with my third arm and all. I wouldn't run over you, though. I keep my latte in my drink holder.

Since crappy things happen in threes - sounds like you have all yours out of the way for a while. The good luck must be right around the corner!

Yikes, a root canal. And sorry about your car. I also have a deep desire to have a Vespa, even though I don't need it. I always sign up for the contests where they give a Vespa away. I'll let you know when I finally win one.

Hopefully you can reschedule that meeting with RHOG.

You need to fire your mechanic. I don't understand why it cost $2,300 to fix your car. I had to buy a rebuilt engine once because I totally blew out the one in my car. And it only cost me $550!

Oh, I had a Mod boyfriend when I was 19. He was my first real boyfriend. He dyed his blonde hair almost white-blond, smoked Gitanes, and drove a red Vespa with stadium mirrors, just like "Ace" in the Brit film, "Quadrophenia." And you know who played Ace, right?! Sting!

You too?! We've got a car in the shop that we plan to replace as soon as it (and us) are out of $1500. But at least my mouth doesn't ache. I hope you at least got some good painkillers.

Why are teeth always depicted as such happy sorts? Most things involving teeth are unhappy affairs. I'm sorry about your teeth and your car, that really is rough.
And Vespas are cute but why not go for a full-on motorcycle? You could totally outrun that bitch with the 3 hands!

This is the good news you asked me to come over to read?! What's the bad news?

the cost for you is too...maybe better look for another mechanic..that's the only solution...if he's a friend, why cost you so much that ends up having you money troubles...my uncle had only cost him repairs for $630 and its just an ample amount...last time i had replaced my mercedes vent visors and it just cost me what i do expected.

Aw man! The scooters are VERY popular in our neighborhood. Some friends just test drove one yesterday and they're only $3K (here). I think you could rock one!
