I Ran Three Miles

Saturday, on the tread$#!~@mill. At work.

And it only took me 35 minutes! I thought I would die. But ... I stuck it out.

Saturday morning here in D.C. was cold. Windy-24 degree-F-windchill-cold. Bex sucked it up and joined her group for a 9-mile arctic run, while I debated and hemmed and hawed and finallly got myself to work where there is the choice of treadmill (inside) or trail (outside!) I went for the mill.

I don't know how some people do this treadmill thing day after day! More power to you. I was sucking air and thought I would faint. And that's before I turned it on.

Saturday afternoon, I did a yoga video ("Yoga for Weight Loss") in the comfort of my toasty warm living room.

And Sunday morning did "Yoga for Beginners" because I couldn't bear to go for a walk outside. A pattern develops. I have an aversion to cold.

Tomorrow morning: Spinning! With the guy I want to um, see more of!

In other news, I've stolen Jon's goals. It's OK though, he said I could have them. (I don't need the chocolate one though, cuz that would mean adding chocolate to my diet, but thanks anyway, Jon.)

Let's see, any other news??

Oh yeah. I had one drink (an Irish coffee, sans whipped cream) with Bex tonight at 6:00 (my first alcohol in months) before bellringing practice at 7:45. On the way back from bellringing class, at 9:15 p.m., there's an intersection where there's a little cutout allowing you to take a right on red. Which I took. And noticed there was a nice hefty Volvo in front of me. And no traffic which would cause said Volvo to stop. But stop he did. And then so did I. Only...not quite fast enough. Ka-boom.

No one was injured. Especially not the Volvo, which is built like a Hummer. Though of course the guy (no doubt a lawyer) wanted all my insurance info, just so he can proceed to put me through hell.

I'm not saying the two things are related (one drink, one Volvo). I'm just saying ...

Yo Jeanne, what kind of bell ringer are you? This one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1QTx7HINHA

Next time you want to crash into a Volvo, let me know. I was hoping beyond hope someone would do so, but in the end I donated the piece 'o crap to Charity Motors.

Do you need me to send you back your Stick so you can beat the lawyer over the head with it?

(which btw, I just got today, yay you rock!)

I don't know how people can do regular running on a dreadmill either, I tried it a couple times and that was enough of that.

I hope the lawyer-type mellows out and leaves you alone!

Never thought I'd see the day when you actually liked Spinning.

Good job on the 3 miles. I hate cold too, and have succumbed to running on the treadmill. It's better than nothing. When I do suck it up and run outside, it's usually not as bad as I think it will be.

Irish Coffee, hold the whip? Way to go with the sans sugar! I sent a lemonade back the other day when I realized it contains sugar. I guess I've always thought lemons were just naturally sweet. :0

WTG on the treadmill 3 miles...I, too, find the treadmill so brutal. I work so darn hard on it (seems like) and look down, and the thing just cruelly says "HA! You've only gone .45 mile! HA!" Props to you on that one.

You drove 3 hrs after the Irish coffee? I would not bet they are related...GL GL GL with the insurance ickiness.

PS--Love the new profile pic, don't know if I said it before!

All the reverb of those bells ringing in your head could easily have caused your vision to blur and said Volvo to back into you like that.

Blame it on Bex. She made you do it.

Awww sorry about your fender bender. Hopefully he will not put you through hell.

3 miles on a dreadmill is like running a marathon as far as I'm concerned. If you really want to see something jaw dropping read Waddler - she ran for 3 hours on a dreadmill over the weekend - 3 HOURS! I think I'd rather rear end every Volvo in the state than do that (she says as she's sitting here in her jammies 'cause she didn't want to run in the cold - HA!)

Is it possible to hit a car and it not be driven by a lawyer in D.C.? Glad it wasn't more serious, though the insurance hike will create a bigger dent in your budget than his Volvo, I'm sure.

Dude! Didn't realize you had a fender-bender after the Irish coffee. Sorry that happened. I am an enabler. Though I blame the bell-ringing, not me forcing whiskey down your (albeit compliant) throat. Hope there wasn't too much damage to your car. Don't worry, the lawyer won't file a claim. Why should he? Nothing happened to his damn car worth reporting.

Oh my, Jeanne! I hope the lawyer guy is not a total jerk. He's the one who stoped for NOBODY! **sigh**

Oh man!! I hope your car is fine, too. The little piddly accidents are the worst.

I can't wait for spring.

I have learned to love my treadmill, but it's still a rocky relationship. :)

Do you need an italian lawyer? I am available! And, in case, I have also a treadmill at home so you can run while telling what happened.

I hate running on the treadmill, as you mentioned. Although, it's a better choice for me than sticking it out in the freezing weather. So, I'm stuck half-marathon training on a treadmill until April - then the race!

Good luck with your training!
